Where the Future Meets Practical Application: The GET NORD 2026 Supporting Programme

Photovoltaics, energy storage, heat pumps and charging infrastructure as an intelligent energy system, artificial intelligence in the skilled trades, and connected building technology: from 19 to 21 November 2026, GET NORD at the Hamburg Messe und Congress exhibition grounds will demonstrate how future technologies are already working together in practice today. Whether through the stage programme, themed areas, guided tours or competitions, trade visitors can experience applications live, compare solutions and engage with experts.

What still sounds like the future today can already be experienced first-hand at GET NORD: How can photovoltaics, energy storage, heat pumps and charging infrastructure be combined into an intelligent energy system? What can artificial intelligence already achieve in the skilled trades? And how are digitalisation and building automation changing day-to-day work? The focus is not only on trends and product innovations.

“GET NORD brings together technologies, trades and people, making visible how individual solutions become interconnected systems for practical use. Especially in times of rapid technological change, it is crucial not only to talk about developments, but to experience them first-hand, ask questions and discover concrete applications. This is exactly what the GET NORD programme provides: the right framework for new ideas, professional exchange and solutions that can be implemented directly in everyday working life,” says Anne Spielberg, Exhibition Director of GET NORD.

Knowledge That Delivers in Practice: InnovationsForum and Energy@GET NORD Forum

The new InnovationsForum brings together the electrical, plumbing, heating and air-conditioning trades with innovation leaders and current practical topics. The programme includes future-proof drinking water installations, energy-efficient heating, intelligent lighting solutions, BIM and AI in the skilled trades. The Energy@GET NORD Forum demonstrates how the energy transition can be implemented in buildings in practical terms. Key topics include photovoltaics, energy storage and battery management, dynamic electricity tariffs, combined photovoltaic and heating systems, heat pump integration, smart grids, charging infrastructure and municipal heat planning. Both forums combine expert knowledge with concrete applications and direct exchange with specialists.

Further information is available at InnovationsForum and Energy@GET NORD Forum - GET NORD.

Thinking Across Trades: ELEKTRO+ and WÄRME+ FORUM

How can different trades be connected into one integrated system? This question is the focus of a forum jointly organised for the first time by ELEKTRO+ and WÄRME+, their partners from industry and the skilled trades, and the HEA specialist association. Topics on stage include the “Energy House”, the interaction of heat pumps and photovoltaics, smart metering, building automation, charging infrastructure, ventilation and modern electrical installations. The programme is complemented by current standards and practical solutions for new-build and renovation projects.

NEW: Experience Technologies and Cross-Trade Networking Live on the Guided Tours

Visitors who want to do more than listen, and would like to experience applications directly on site and see how cross-trade solutions are implemented, can take part in the new free Guided Tours. Taking place on all three exhibition days, the tours lead participants to selected exhibitors and provide concise guidance on current topics. Featured tours include “Connected Energy and Heating Systems”, “The Bathroom of the Future: Accessible and Intelligent” and “The E-House: Hands-On Digitalisation, AI and Smart Home Technologies”. Experts demonstrate on site how modern technologies interact and what opportunities and benefits this creates in practice. The tours are led by Christian Borchardt (SHK Hamburg), Antje Voss (Barrierefrei Leben e. V.) and Anneke Zirpins (NFE Norddeutscher Fachverband Elektro- und Informationstechnik e. V.). Multiple sessions on all three exhibition days allow for flexible participation. Participants can experience applications live and direct their questions to industry experts.

Further information on tours, schedules and online registration is available at Guided Tours - GET NORD.

Discover New Solutions: Startups@GET NORD by VdZ and E-House

New business models and digital applications are also in focus. At Startups@GET NORD by VdZ, an area organised in cooperation with VdZ – the German Building and Energy Industry Association, start-ups present innovative practical solutions. These include planning software for heat pumps and heating load calculations, 3D room capture and digital twins, automated customer enquiries and tenant electricity solutions. The E-House presented by the German Electrical and Information Technology Contractors’ Association (ZVEH) demonstrates how individual technologies combine to form an intelligent overall system: smart metering, AI-supported energy management, heat pumps, energy storage, charging infrastructure and dynamic electricity tariffs all interact seamlessly.

Experience the Next Generation of Skilled Trades Live

GET NORD also highlights the future of the skilled trades through its young talent programme. At the PowerPark and TechnikPark, visitors can experience challenges as well as modern tools and techniques. In addition, occupational safety seminars are offered for apprentices and skilled workers, providing practical awareness of workplace hazards and valuable impulses for greater safety in everyday work. At the Creator Stage@GET NORD, one of the key topics is “Women in Skilled Trades”. The discussion explores how companies can attract more women to apprenticeships and careers in the trades and inspire them to stay for the long term. An audience Q&A session follows the discussion.

Further information is available at PowerPark, TechnikPark, Occupational Safety Seminars and Creator Stage@GET NORD.

Direct Exchange with Industry Experts

Technological developments, new requirements and changing economic conditions are reshaping everyday work in the skilled trades. At the association stands, visitors can discuss current industry topics directly with experts. Under the motto #connectingheat, the German Heating Industry Association (BDH) provides information on energy policy developments, funding opportunities and modern heating technologies. The Northern German associations for plumbing, heating, air-conditioning and plumbing-sheet-metal trades offer guidance on technology, legal matters, business administration and training. At the stand of the Northern German Electrical Trades, topics include electrification, digitalisation, smart home solutions, securing skilled labour, as well as the E-Brand concept, E-CHECK and specialist company certifications.

Awards and Competitions

Architecture, design and craftsmanship are also in the spotlight. Visitors can look forward to the presentation of the LICHTPREIS, the German TGA AWARD and the GET NORD Architecture Award. In addition, the German Championships for SHK plant mechanics and plumbers will take place.
