With the Washington roundtable, GSIS continues to implement its internationalisation strategy and positions itself as a year‑round platform for transatlantic exchange on key future issues at the intersection of security, technology and geopolitics.
The roundtable focused on Europe’s geoeconomic dependencies in the context of its evolving security posture, particularly with regard to critical raw materials, industrial supply chains and global power shifts. The discussion built on analyses and executive briefings developed as part of the GSIS programme.
The format brought together participants from strategic analysis, policy and the security‑ and technology‑policy community and provided space for an open, practice‑oriented exchange. The discussion was accompanied by experts from the IISS.
The event forms part of GSIS’s international activities in the run‑up to the Global Security and Innovation Summit 2026 in Hamburg and serves to introduce key summit topics into transatlantic debates at an early stage.
Through its presence in Washington, IISS and Hamburg Messe und Congress strengthen GSIS’s role as a bridge between European and US stakeholders and as a platform for strategic discussions on the security‑ and innovation‑policy challenges of the years ahead.
